SUMMARY:Pirates Road Running 10km Run
DESCRIPTION:The Pirates 10km Road Race has undergone a facelift this year\, with an exciting new title sponsor\, Cool Ideas – ‘Your Fibre Guy’ coming on board. Also\, in other exciting news\, Pirates has also partnered with Manoni Running Club to host one of Joburg’s premier 10km events! AND… the race will now also be offering a 5km fun run. With all these exciting developments\, it’s a no-brainer that you should enter now and be part of it all on the 14th July. All you need to do now is book your spot on the start line! \n\n\n\nThis road race has a long history\, with the current route being used since the early 1990’s when work on the wall of Emmarentia Dam necessitated a change from the previous route. The race starts and finishes at the Pirates Club in Greenside\, and runs along a scenic route through the tree-lined suburbs of Greenside\, Parkview and Westcliff. There is a bit of climbing involved\, but this is balanced nicely by the frequent\, long\, gradual downhills. \nThis year we are reintroducing the 5km Fun Run to the event. This fun run is for participants of all ages and we would really like to encourage parents to make it a family event\, as it is a great opportunity to run with your children in a safe environment. The 5km route enjoys the same vibe and atmosphere as the 10km\, and follows large sections of the longer route. \nPart of the running experience that we are striving to provide includes the post-race area at Pirates Sports Club. In order for runners to top up their energy levels again\, we have arranged several different food stalls to be present on the day\, and there will be great facilities and activities for the kids\, with jumping castles\, a jungle gym\, and face painting. This means there will be plenty for non-running family members or friends to do on the day\, both young and old\, whilst they wait for the runners to return. \nJust note that entries are limited to 3000 runners\, so enter now to avoid missing out on the best edition yet of this much-loved 10km race!

SUMMARY:Two Oceans Ultra and Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon has earned a reputation as the world’s most beautiful marathon. The first race was held in 1970 and saw 26 runners line up to face the unknown challenge. Since then\, the race has become a national institution and a firm favourite with local\, upcountry\, and international athletes. \nOld Mutual is proud to continue its association with this great event\, which is the premier event in their road-running portfolio. Participants can choose from various distances – the scenic 56km ultra marathon or popular 21km half marathon and the 5km or 2.5km fun runs. The event attracts close to 26 000 participants across all the distances and provides them with a mixture of breathtaking scenery\, a gruelling test of fitness for both the elite and recreational runner\, and an unrivalled race organisation and atmosphere. \nParticipants consistently vote it as one of the best in South Africa and it continues to attract strong fields and an increasing number of international entrants. The event has become synonymous with the Easter Weekend in Cape Town\, with the pre-race activities at the expo\, family day\, and fun runs on Easter Friday. En-route entertainment on the race day provides fun\, excitement\, and a unique experience to runners\, family\, friends\, and spectators alike.
